Hornbill Festival, Meghalaya and Kaziranga National Park

The northeast of India has been isolated for many decades due to geographical and political conditions and was considered a black spot on the tourist map.
It is only in recent years that the strict entry regulations have been somewhat relaxed, meaning that we are now allowed to build a bridge to this region between Tibet and Burma. The traditional way of life of the more than 500 indigenous groups living here has been, to this day, barely affected by the modern world to this day and the natural environment has also been preserved in its original diversity to a large extent. A tour to these remote areas is impressive, with breathtaking panoramas, fascinating animal to observe and inspiring cultural experiences.

Every year in the first days of December, the 17 major peoples of the region present their history, dances and songs, skillful handicrafts and many other traditions at the Kisama Festival Ground as part of the Hornbill Festival. A great chance to try the local dishes! A visit to the villages of some very different indigenous tribes will give you a glimpse into the everyday life of these friendly people. Their natural way of life and being closely in touch with nature is very impressive. Visits to sights, temples and museums round off the cultural experience. The exuberant and often almost untouched nature of the region presents itself at all times when looking over mountain ridges, valleys and plains – the drives to new stops on the tour always provide highlights.
The flora and fauna of Kaziranga National Park, a World Heritage Site that protects populations of various endangered animal and plant species can be explored on safaris during this tour.
